A Vision, Peripherally Speaking

– Jose A. Alcantara

Audio Poem

Out of the corner of my eye I see the Lord
hovering above the river and coming my way.

For a fractured holy moment I am blessed –
every ounce of my flesh turning to light.

Though when I look there is nothing
but a little yellow bird, not even a dove,

disappearing into the willows on the far bank –
the branches closing noiselessly behind him.
